Director Derek Pike takes us behind the scenes of the video for Laws’ remix of “Hold You Down” (produced by Khalil), featuring NYC spitter Emilio Rojas and Mississippi phenom Big Krit.
“By the time Marshall started focusing on making a new album, Dre was already working on his own stuff. So we reached out to Just Blaze first, worked on several tracks with him, and that opened the door to the other producers — Boi-1da, DJ Khalil. Those three are the guts of the record. It was a natural progression, a matter of timing”

Here is a song we recorded over a year ago in LA at HOB Studios. This was a dream come true for me, to record a song with one of the most prolific artists in all of music. Busta Rhymes told me that he is our crown jewel, and I would have to agree. It’s an honor to work with some of the pioneers and true greats in hiphop and to live out my dreams. Although the song didn’t make the final cut, I had a chance to produce Nas and collaborate with him in the studio. I coached him thru some of his vocals and we conceptualized the song. A truly incredible experience.
